Vujicic finds magic in helping youths – video

PETALING JAYA: Motivational speaker extraordinaire Nick Vujicic has a passion for helping youths, a message he conveys in the over 2,000 speeches he has made in six continents.

Despite being born without limbs, he thinks it is worse for teenagers to be brought up in violent homes.

“There are teenagers who are brought up in very violent homes and I believe that’s worse than having no arms and no legs. There are many teenagers who, I believe, are not even shown compassion but they still are able to love and that, to me, is a miracle,” said the speaker who was on a one-day visit to Kuala Lumpur as part of his Asian tour to give a talk to Sunway University students.

Vujicic, who is one of the few people in the world born without arms and legs a condition that has no medical explanation or warning attracts attention wherever he goes.

However, it is his warmth and charisma that captivates, as evident from the fact that he is greeted by fans waiting for him at airports around the world.

Vujicic said the magic that changed the lives of people he spoke to came from something bigger than him God.

“Do I have hope that something works out? Yes. Is it because of luck? No. For me, it’s prayer and if God will bless it, he’ll bless it. And if it doesn’t happen, then something else is better around the corner.”

Amazingly, the 31-year-old had been suffering from a bout of depression before he met his wife, Kanae Miyahara.

Describing his first meeting with his wife, Vujicic said it had been love at first sight for him.

“I’m just so thankful that my wife is the most beautiful soul I’ve ever met in my life and I hope to bring her to Malaysia next time,” he said.

A first-time dad since February, Vujicic lights up when he speaks about his son, Kiyoshi James Vujicic.

“When I first felt him kick in my wife’s womb, it was just absolutely incredible,” he said.

Organised by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation and Sunway University as part of their effort to bring in international speakers to Malaysia, Vujicic’s talk was offered free to students from Sunway Education Group.

An interview with Vujicic will be aired on the Talk of the Town on Capital FM next Wednesday, May 29, from 7.30am. The interview was also captured on camera and the videos can be found on next week.
