SSP1M application from next Monday
KUALA LUMPUR: Aspiring higher education students can start applying for Skim Perihatin Pendidikan 1Malaysia (SSP1M) from next Monday.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said the program was designed to assist parents of students at tertiary level to obtain additional study loans.
SPP1M will provide a loan of up to RM150,000 for those studying in critical fields and specialising in medicine.
The program will roll out in two stages – the first quarter this year for students studying in local universities while those studying overseas will be able to receive the loan from second quarter onwards.
Speaking at the launch of Tunas Iltizam, a skills training program under Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera, Nor Mohamed also announced that the foundation will offer 500 more scholarships under its Peneraju Tunas Potensi program.
“The amount is more than double the number of scholarships we offered last year which was 210,” he said at Wisma Sejarah, today.
