A student was gang-raped in Manipal, Karnataka’s education hub.
The girl was abducted from the Manipal University campus around 11.45 pm when she was returning from the library to her hostel.

In an unrelated case, activists and civilians rallied together to protest the recent rape in the village of Kamduni and to condemn violence against women in India

The victim has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

“The victim is out of danger and recovering. She suffered a fracture in the leg and injuries on her back and neck. We are conducting investigation and are hopeful of an early breakthrough,” said Udupi district SP Dr Boralingaiah.

The miscreants followed the victim in an auto rickshaw before abducting her. She was driven to an isolated place, 2 km from the campus, where the crime was committed.
No arrests have been made but the police are on the look out for three persons, including the auto rickshaw driver. -dailymail
